This once-a-week posting is becoming a habit, but we have begun our school year and things are quite busy right now, but the schedule is starting to settle.
Today was the kind of day where I wonder, "why did I even get out of bed?"
I have been trying so hard to figure out a way to save more money on our grocery bills. The couponing thing doesn't work for me because most coupons are for name brand products and I buy as many generic brands as possible. Also, I won't just buy something because I have a coupon. I've been shopping at a discount grocery store, but it's difficult to buy the types of things I am supposed to eat there. So, this week, I took the flyer that I got at the regular grocery store that I shop at and carefully sifted through it. I planned my meals according to the sale items. I had everything planned and on a list and knew about what I was going to spend, which was about $30-$40 less than past weeks, so I was feeling good about going shopping.
Then I got to the store. I went to the meat counter and asked for the bone-in pork chops that were on sale and was told they weren't on sale. Then I asked about the smoked sausage that was on sale, and that wasn't on sale either. I said, "How can this be? I planned my whole grocery list according to your sale flyer?" So, they showed me their flyer for this week, which was not the same as mine. Mine is the flyer for next week! What??!! I got my flyer here at the store on the table on the way out, where they always have "Next Week's Ad"!
Apparently, last week, someone put the wrong ad on the table for "Next Week's Ad", and I never thought to look at the dates! I won't make that mistake again. This completely threw everything off and I overspent again. Such frustration! Between grocery and gas prices it is extremely hard to live on a budget!
Then there was the issue with my medicine. I called the pharmacy this morning to order my refills and was completely out of two of my pills (I had taken the last ones last night). My sister works at the pharmacy and she told me I had no more refills left. So, she faxed my doctor's office and I called my doctor's office.
After the grocery fiasco, I called the pharmacy to see if the doctor's had renewed my prescriptions and was told, by someone other than my sister, that they had, so I went to the pharmacy. My sister waited on me and said, "I gave you five of each pill to hold you over because your doctor's office hasn't called yet." I said, "What? I called before I came and was told that they had." My sister said, "Don't talk to anyone else next time."
Then I had to get Anthony to a soccer game by 3p.m. in a town about 30 minutes away. We made it. That was the only thing that went right today and was the one bright spot as I watched our team win 2-1!
When we returned home, I found a message on the answering machine from the nurse at the doctor's office telling me that they had called a one-month prescription in for me and that I will not get any more refills until I see the doctor, as I am supposed to see him every three months! That was news to me. I hadn't been told that before, and I currently have lab paperwork to go for a fasting blood test that the doctor told me to get in September, and now I'm supposed to schedule an appointment in September as well! All this medical stuff is expensive, even with insurance! It's not helping our budget!
Well, praise the Lord, the first four days of the week went well. Hopefully, the weekend will go well, too.
Too much stress today. I think I'll do a little reading and then get to bed. Tomorrow's gotta be better:)

I'm with you on the coupon thing. They're never for anything I use. Do you have an Aldi near you? They have all generic and are considerably cheaper than anywhere else.

Sounds like a plan. Reading and sleep. God knows how hard you were trying to stay on budget. He'll provide. Sorry for the frustrations though!
You poor thing. Life is full of twist and turns! I'll have to call you so we can catch up
All those frustrations in one day! ARGGGGG!
Just remember that you are trying to do the best you can. Pray for the Lord to fill the gaps.
Love you friend!
